A Milli (Patterns)

Lately we've been making a lot of beats with 2 patterns. This week, we'll be working on more beats with 2 patterns but we'll using a few new methods that will be very helpful as our beats get better in the class. Today, we're going to work on recreating the A Milli beat, which is a 2 pattern beat. Lets get started!

1. Open Reason. If you see a lot of things on the screen in Reason, be sure to go to "File" & click "New".

2. Go to the CREATE menu and create your MIXER 14:2. Remember, this mixer is the first thing you will create in Reason before starting to make your beats. If you already see the mixer, then skip this step and move to step 3.

3. Now that you have your mixer, set the Tempo of your beat to 80bpm.

4. Go to the CREATE menu & create a Redrum Drum Machine.

5. For sound 1, click the folder by the number 1. Now, go into the Reason Factory Sound Bank, then Redrum Drum Kits, then Xclusive Drums-Sorted @ the bottom.

6. Open the folder 01_BassDrums & load in the bass drum called BD_Boomer. Push SELECT on sound 1, then put it on boxes 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14.

7. Click the folder for sound 2, and load in another bass drum. This time, load in BD_Rabotnik. Push SELECT on sound 2, then put it on boxes 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14.

8. Now that we have our bass drum, lets find a clap. For sound 3, go into the Xclusive Drums-Sorted folder and open the folder called 04_Claps. Push SELECT on sound 3, then put this clap on boxes 5 & 13.

9. We've finished Pattern 1, Now switch over to Pattern 2.

10. Click the folder on Sound 4. Go into the folder 02_SnareDrums. Find the snare drum titled SD_GiantStep. Push select on Sound 4, then put it on boxes 1, 4, 5, 7, 11, and 14.

11. SAVE YOUR BEAT IN YOUR FOLDER As (your name) amilli.

12. Tomorrow we will use our A Milli patterns for something new, so make sure your beat is done exactly how it is supposed to be!
